Authentication

Counterfeiting, diversion and illegal parallel trade have a major impact:

  • Causing financial losses for companies
  • Creating tax losses for governments
  • Creating potential legal liabilities for businesses throughout the supply chain
  • Tarnishing industry and brand reputations
  • Putting consumers at risk

As a result of these concerns, secure track & trace and product pedigrees are increasingly becoming required, particularly in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

Traditional anti-counterfeiting solutions can be 'overt' or 'covert'. Overt approaches, like holograms, are relied on by consumers but are increasingly being copied. Consumers often can't tell genuine measures from those adopted by counterfeiters.

Covert approaches, such as secret ingredients and forensic tags, can only be verified by professionals with sophisticated equipment.

Hyperlabel Authentication

Hyperlabel tags are invisible to the human eye and difficult to counterfeit. While helpful, this is not the core strength of Hyperlabel security.

Hyperlabel employs well-known and widely tested cryptographic standards to assign a unique public key digital signature to each product item. A range of secure cryptographic standards are supported, including RSA and DSS.

When combined with online track and trace infrastructure, these anti-counterfeiting measures allow a secure product pedigree to be created. Digital signatures can be checked online or offline. If a counterfeit or previously diverted package is scanned, it will be identified and pinpointed.

Using an equipped mobile phone or computer, Hyperlabel puts authentication in the hands of consumers, as well as manufacturers and regulatory bodies.
